Announces Candidacy for re-election
Montgomery County Board of Education, District 4
January 10, 2020 Silver Spring, MD – Shebra L Evans, President of the Montgomery County Board of Education, today announced her candidacy for reelection to the District 4 seat on the Montgomery County Board of Education.
Shebra L. Evans was first elected to the Montgomery County Board of Education in November 2016. She will serve a second consecutive term as the Board President. She was re-elected to another one-year term in a unanimous vote and has served as Board President since 2018 and elected as Vice President in 2017. She is a member of the Board's Strategic Planning Committee.
“I am running for re-election to the Board of Education because I am proud of the work we are doing to address disparities in student outcomes by closing gaps in opportunity and achievement. We continue to make progress, but there is still work to do. I believe my experience coupled with my leadership will be an asset as we advocate for resources to ensure the success for all students.”
Mrs. Evans has worked as a Financial Analyst in the Cable and Energy industry. She received a Bachelor of Science in Economics and Finance from Tennessee State University. Mrs. Evans and her husband Lawrence have resided in Montgomery County for over 19 years and have two daughters who attend Montgomery County Public Schools.
